Hornet women's cross country battles extreme cold conditions at NE Regional

Brunswick, ME - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's cross country team completed their season at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon.  The field of 380 runners faced clear, cold conditions as they raced over the 6K Bowdoin College course.  The Hornet women did not post a complete score, as Williams College captured the team regional championship.  Izzi Gengaro of Massachusetts Institute of Technology garnered individual honors, finishing in a time of 27:19.1.

Zosia Prince (Sutton, VT) completed her sophomore season with a 155th place finish, crossing the finish line in 24:21.5.  Rachel Valentine (Clarksdale, AZ) finished in 29:38.6.  Senior Isabelle Tuggle (Norich, VT) finished in 30:30.7in her final race as a Hornet.

Lyndon head coach Hayden Bunnell remarked "The women struggled today in the cold conditions.  With sickness and not use to racing with this kind of weather, they just could not get momentum going today, but they did gut it out."

Prince and Valentine are expected to return as two of the top runners in the North Atlantic Conference in 2020.
