Hornet women run to personal bests against strong field at Western New England Invitational

Springfield, MA - Competing against a strong field, all five scoring members of the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's cross country team posted personal bests at Saturday's Western New England University Invitational.  As a team the Hornets finished 14th out of 17 complete teams and 20 total competing teams.  Mount Holyoke College captured meet honors, easily outdistancing runner up University of New England.

Zosia Prince (Sutton, VT) was Lyndon's top finisher, completing the 6K course in 23:58, good for 21st place.  Rachel Valentine (Clarksdale, AZ) was next for the Hornets, crossing the finish line in 27:32.  Isabelle Tuggle (Norwich, VT) finished in 29:41.  Ro Ze Yar (Winooski, VT) and Rebekah Delgado (Jersey City, NJ) rounded out Lyndon's scoring runners.

Hornet head coach Hayden Bunnell was pleased with each runner's performance.  "The women's team all did a good job and all ran personal bests.  It was nice to see Zosia break 24, Rachel to be in the mid 27s, and Izzy under 30 and that will be a good tune up for NAC in 2 weeks."

The Hornets will travel to NVU-Johnson for a 3k tuneup race on Monday at 5:30 pm.  The North Atlantic Conference Championships will take place on November 2nd on the Lyndon Cross Cuntry Trail.
