Prince takes 3rd place at Vermont State Meet to lead Hornet women

Castleton, VT - Zosia Prince (Sutton, VT) finished third in the field of 37 runners, leading the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's cross country team at the Vermont State Championship Meet, hosted by Castleton University, on Friday evening.  The Hornets finished fifth as a team.  NCAA Division II St. Michael's College captured team honors.

Prince completed the 5K course in 21:15, just 19 seconds behind race winner Kaylyn Crompton of Castleton and eight seconds behind runner up Margaret Burnham of St. Michael's.  Isabelle Tuggle (Norwich, VT) finished 27th with a time of 27:22.  Shelby Benton (Sutton, VT), Cassie Black (Tolland, CT), and Paige Daley (Pleasant Valley, NY) were the Hornets' other scoring finishers.

Lyndon head coach Hayden Bunnell commented "On the women's side we are little bit up from sickness last week, but we look forward to get back on track within these next few weeks."

The Hornets will travle to NVU-Johnson for a dual meet on Monday evening.  The 3K women's race will begin at 5:30 pm.
