Castine, ME - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon volleyball team took to the road for a North Atlantic Conference quad match on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Hornets, they came up short in both matches, falling 3-0 to both host Maine Maritime Academy and Husson University. Lyndon is winless in 15 starts this season, including four NAC contests. Maine Maritime improves to 17-3 overall and 4-0 in conference with their win, while Husson moves to 5-23 on the season and picks up their firswt conference win in four matches.
Maine Maritime 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-3, 25-6, 25-2)
Lyndon struggled to return serve in the day's first match, as Maine Maritime recorded 43 service aces in the match. The Mariners also had 15 kills to zero for the Hornets. Briana Mays and Rachel Melampy had foru kills each to lead the Mariners and setter Lauren Shaner recorded 11 assists. Alexis Foley (Newburyport, MA) and Fahari Achinda (Hinesburg, VT) each had a dig for Lyndon.
Husson 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-3, 25-6, 25-6)
The Hornets didn't fare any better in their second match, as they fell victim to 38 Husson service aces. Lyndon again wasn't able to record a kill while Husson notched 15. The Eaqles' Hanna Hembrow had a strong match with 14 aces and 11 assists. Cassie Black (Tolland, CT) had a pair of digs for the Hornets.
Lyndon will wrap up their season next Sunday, November 3rd, when they travel to NVU-Johnson for another NAC quad match. The Hornets will face SUNY Delhi at 2:00 pm, then close the season with a 4:00 pm match against SUNY Canton.
