Castleton, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon volleyball team squared off against Castleton University for the third time this season on Tuesday night. Unfortunately for the Hornets, the result was the same as the first two meetings, as the host Spartans coasted to a 25-5, 25-1, 25-7 victory. Castleton evens their record at 6-6 while Lyndon remains winless in nine starts.
The Hornets were never able to get anything going, as they were held without a kill the entire match. At the same time the Hornets struggled to receive serve, as the Spartans recorded 43 aces in the match, with Layne Cronin leading the way with 18 aces. Castleton also posted 15 kills. Lyndon had seven digs, with Vanessa Soares (Naugatuck, CT) and Cassie Black (Tolland, CT) posting two digs each.
The Hornets are off until Saturday, October 5th, when they travel to Plymouth State University for a tri-match. Lyndon will face Worcester State University at 2 pm and the host Panthers at 4 pm.
