Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermotn University-Lyndon volleyball team hosted NVU-Johnson and Mitchell College for a tri-match on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Hornets, they came up short in both of their matches, falling 3-0 to Johnson in a North Atlantic Conference match and 3-0 to Mitchell on a non-conference tilt. Mitchell picked up a 3-1 win over Johnson in today's other matchup. With the results, the Hornets fall to 0-6 on the season and 0-1 in NAC play. Johnson stands at 5-2 overall and 1-0 in conference, and Mitchell evens their record at 2-2.

Mitchell 3, NVU-Johnson 1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20)
After dropping the first set, the Mariners came back to take three sets in a row from the Badgers. Johnson held the advantage with 44 kills compared to 32 for the Mariners, but Mitchell capitalized on 24 attack errors and 16 setting errors by the Badgers. Bree Rudolph led a balanced Mitchell attack with eight kills while Lexi Hubbard recorded 12 assists and Brianna Ley posted 15 digs. Nikola Knapova had a big game for the Badgers with 17 kills and setter Mason Lores recorded 32 ssists.
Mitchell 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-5, 25-4, 25-6)
Mitchell cruised past the Hornets in the nightcap. The Mariners recorded 32 service aces on the way to the win, with Rudolph leading the way with 13. Laurissa Amaker tallied six kills and Hubbard recorded seven assists. Emily Clancy (Durham, CT) had Lyndon's only kill and Vanessa Soares (Naugatuck, CT) recorded three digs.
The Hornets return to action next Saturday when they host Castleton University. Game time in Stannard Gymnasium is 12:00 noon.
