Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's tennis team was swept, 9-0, by SUNY Plattsburgh on Thursday afternoon. The loss drops the Hornets to 1-3 on the season while the Cardinals improve to 3-2.
Plattsburgh started strong by taking all three doubles flights without dropping a game. Moving to singles, in the #1 match the Cardinals' Alyana Leandry downed Lyndon's Emilie Dube (Bristol, CT), 6-1, 6-1. Cydney Bond defeated Savannah Jackson (Barre, VT) 6-1, 6-0 at second singles while Sarah Hoeffner and Madison Brennan picked up 6-0, 6-1 wins over Oo Mai Be (Winooski, VT) and Erica Hayakawa (Fukuoka, Japan) at #4 and #6 respectively. The Hornets didn't capture a game in either of the other singles flights.
The Hornets return to action on Saturday when they travel to NVU-Johnson for a North Atlantic Conference match. That match will also be a part of the NVU President's Cup Challenge. Play is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
