Hornet men's cross country finishes 10th at UNE Invitational

Biddeford, ME - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon finished in 10th place against a very strong field at Saturday's University of New England Invitational.  Trinity College captured team honors, with NCAA Division II Franklin Pierce College finishing second.

Junior Christopher Chichester (Orleans, VT) continued the strong start to his Hornet career, completing the 8K course in 27:54.1, good for 19th place in the field of 131 runners.  Michael Bear (Colchester, VT) was next, crossing in 31:22.5 and finishing 71st.  Peter Gilding (St. Johnsbury, VT), Joseph Gonzalez-Lyons (Plattsburgh, NY), and Matthew Sheridan (Groveport, OH), rounded out Lyndon's scoring runners.  They finished with times of 36:09.0, 42:33.3, and 42:35.0.

Hornet head coach Hayden Bunnell had these thoughts about today's race.  "It was the first 8k for these men, so we wanted make we were racing smart and that they did a really good job for the first time.  I am definitely seeing improvement in them as well."

The Hornets will take next weekend off.  The next meet on the schedule will be the Vermont State Collegiate Meet, hosted this year by Castleton University, on Friday, September 27th.  Race time is 5:15 pm.
