Chris Chichester makes strong Hornet debut with 5th Place finish at Charger Invitational

New London, NH - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon junior Christopher Chichester (Orleans, VT), running in his first race as a Hornet, took fifth place at Colby-Sawyer College's Charger Invitational on Saturday morning.  Chichester covered the 5K course in 17:13.12, just 24 seconds behind race winner Liam Fleming of Colby-Sawyer.  Plymouth State University took team honors in the men's race.

Two other Hornet newcomers, freshman Michael Bear (Colchester, VT) and junior Peter Gilding (St. Johnsbury, VT), also competed.  Bear finished in 44th place with a time of 19:17.23, while Gilding finished 59th in 23:05.51.

Hornet head coach Hayden Bunnell remarked "The men's team did a good job today and I like what I am seeing going forward.  There is a lot of work to be done, but if we stay healthy, I think all of them will be where I expect them to be at the end of the season.

The Hornets will host their own NVU-Lyndon Hornet Invitational next Saturday.  The starting gun for the men's race will go off at 11:00 am.
