Waterville, ME - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's basketball player Jahleel Gabriel (Springfield, MA) has been named the North Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending November 24th. He is the first Hornet to earn Player of the Week honors since Shaun Hill was named Co-Player of the Week in February of 2016 and the first Hornet to win the award outright since Jason Gray in February of 2013.
Gabriel, a senior sport management major, averaged 14.5 points and 12.0 rebounds as the Hornets split a pair of games in New York City last week. He also shot 72.2% from the floor (13/18) and added six assists and two blocked shots. Gabriel has now recorded five double doubles in six games and ranks second in all of NCAA Division III basketball in that category. He is shooting 66.7% from the floor on the season to rank first in the NAC. He is also second in the conference in rebounding at 10.8 per game. He ranks first in the NAC and 10th nationally in total rebounds with 65, and second in the NAC in total points with 93.

Gabriel and the Hornets are 3-3 on the season, the first time that a Lyndon team has won three non-conference games in a season since the Hornets became a full Division III member in 2010. Lyndon returns to action on Wednesday, December 4th, when they travel to Eastern Nazarene College for a 6:00 pm contest.
