PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Leland King scored 19 points and pulled down a career high 16 rebounds to lead Brown to an 88-42 non-league win over Lyndon Monday evening at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Brown improves to 9-8 overall, while Lyndon falls to 3-9.
Brown led from start-to-finish and broke the game open with a first half scoring spurt. Leading 13-8 at the 13:24 mark of the opening half, Brown outscored the Hornets 23-4 to grab a 36-12 lead on a layup by King with 3:14 remaining.
Brown out-rebounded the Hornets by a 59-28 margin, with three Bears pulling down double-digit rebounds. King connected on 7-of-8 field goals in scoring 19 points and pulled down 11 of his 16 rebounds in the first half alone.
Steven Spieth registered 12 points and grabbed four rebounds, for the Bears, J.R. Hobbie had 12 points and Tavon Blackmon had 11 points and five assists. Patrick Triplet tossed in a career high 11 points.
Lyndon was led by David Johnson (Washington, D.C.) with 18 points and two steals. Rob Alers (Central Falls, R.I.) added eight points and Rontrez Purcell (Washington, D.C.) chipped in seven points and four rebounds. George Carle (Central Falls, R.I.) and Jose Berroa (Lawrence, Mass.) had a team-high two assists and six rebounds, respectively.
Lyndon travels to Poultney, Vt. Thursday to face North Atlantic Conference foe Green Mountain College. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
