Springfield, MA - The Lyndon State College women's cross country team finished 8th at the annual Western New England University Invitational on Saturday.  The Hornets were led by senior Sierra Hargrave (St. Johnsbury, VT), who completed the 6.5K course in a time of 27:29, good for 17th place overall out of 98 competitors.  Hargrave was followed by freshman Ashley Darrell (Concord, VT) in 42nd place.  Completing the scoring for the Hornets were Rachal Peatman (Cambridge, VT) in 52nd place, Alesha Donovan (Northwood, NH) in 53rd place, and Libby Start (Randolph, VT) in 62nd place.

"The women continue to improve," stated Hornet Coach Chris Ummer.  "They're closing the gap on teams they'll see in two weeks at the conference championship. Our biggest challenge right now is to get everyone healthy."

The cross country team races next Saturday, October 21st, at the Plansky Invitational hosted by Williams College.  The women's race will begin at 12:00 noon.
