PLYMOUTH, NH – The Lyndon State College women's cross country team kicked off their 2017 season with a second place finish (3 teams) at the Plymouth State University Short Course Invitational. The Hornets were led by senior Sierra Hargrave (St. Johnsbury, VT) who covered the 4K course in 17:43 for 8th place overall (31 total runners). Hargrave was followed by junior Anna Gear (Fort Myers, FL) with a 14th place finish in 19:07 and junior Alesha Donovan (Northwood, NH) in 19th place in 19:43. Freshman Rachal Peatman (Cambridge, VT) in 20th place and fellow freshman Ashely Darrell (Concord, VT) in 21st place completed the scoring for the Hornets for a total of 53 points.
"The focus of today's race was to put in a hard work out and get use to suffering." said Hornet head Coach Chris Ummer. "We ran well in groups today, but still have much room to improve in that area. As always our focus is really on the end of the season and the NAC meet, but I saw some very good things today."
Both the men's and women's team will be in action on September 16th when they compete at the Bowdoin College Invitational in Brunswick, ME.
