Salvadore named NAC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year, Hillman and Denton on Sportsmanship Teams

Waterville, ME - Lyndon State College thrower Abby Salvadore (Portsmouth, NH) has been named the 2018 North Atlantic Conference Women's Track and Field Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year, as voted on by conference coaches and announced today.  In addition, Jessica Hillman (Gardiner, ME) and Robert Denton III (Providence, RI) have been named to the 2018 NAC Sportsmanship Teams for Women's and Men's Track and Field respectively.

Salvadore, a senior Exercise Science major, has a 3.99 grade point average and has been named to the President's List at Lyndon in seven different semesters.  She is the school record holder in javelin, shot put, and discus.  She qualified for the NCAA Division III New England Regionals in javelin, placing fifth with a record distance of 40.50 meters.  At the NAC Championships she placed second in javelin, fourth in discus, and sixth in shot put.  She is also a member of the women's basketball team, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and the Sports Medicine Club, and is a volunteer with Special Olympics.

Hillman, a sophomore Cinema Production major, is the school record holder in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, the 100 meter hurdles, and long jump.  At the NAC Championships she finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles, sixth in long jump, and seventh in the 100 meter dash.

Denton, a junior Atmospheric Science and Business Administration major, is the school record holder in discus and shot put.  At the NAC meet he placed 14th in javelin, 17th in shot put, and 19th in discus.

The NAC Women's and Men's Track and Field Sportsmanship Teams are reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior.  The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the track and field culture and environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that go beyond the playing rules and etiquette.
