Hornet women's Tennis falls to NAC leaders

New London, NH - The Lyndon State College women's tennis team was swept, 9-0, by North Atlantic Conference regular season champion Colby-Sawyer College on Monday afternoon.  With the win the Chargers clinched the NAC regular season title and the top seed in the conference tournament. Colby-Sawyer is unbeated at 10-0 on the season.  Lyndon finishes 1-7 in NAC play and drops to 1-1 on the season.

Colby-Sawyer took both 1st and 2nd doubles by 8-0 margins.  In singles play, the Chargers' Ashley Woodside (Hampden. ME) defeated Lyndon's Nichole Jones (Lisbon Falls, ME) at 1st singles, 6-0, 6-1.  In 2nd singles, Yashu Yang (Kunming City, China) bested Savannah Jackson (Barre, VT), also by a 6-0, 6-1 score.  Lauren Blanchard (Agawam, MA) and Hilary Boucher (Presque Isle, ME) picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at 3rd and 4th singles respectively, knocking off the Hornets' Rachel Scholfield (Mahopac, NY) and Shanice Facey (Barre, VT).

The Hornets close out their season with a non-conference match this Thursday at Plymouth State University.  Colby-Sawyer will host the NAC Championships this Saturday.
