Bangor, ME - The Lyndon State College women's basketball team led Husson University, 24-11, with less than a minute remaining in the first half of Friday's North Atlantic Conference game, but the hosts rallied for a 60-47 victory. Husson improves to 13-9 overall and 11-4 in the NAC with the win. Lyndon falls to 13-9 on the season and 9-6 in NAC play.
Kenzie Worcester (Washburn, ME) led the Eagles with 16 points and ten rebounds. Jordan Butler (Hampden, ME) came off the bench to add 13 for Husson, while Emma Alley (Millinocket, ME) handed out five assists. Gabrielle Foy (Wilton, ME) paced the Hornets with 14 points. Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, VT) added 13 points and pulled down a game high 26 rebounds.
Neither team shot the ball well, as Lyndon only connected on 30% of its shots (18/60) and Husson only found the mark on 29.3% (22/75) of theirs. The Hornets held a 51-47 rebounding advantage but the difference in the game could be found in the turnover line. Husson forced 23 Hornet giveaways, resulting in 26 Eagle points, while only turning it over eight times themselves, resulting in only three Hornet points.
The Hornets return to action on Saturday afternoon when they tip off at 1:00 pm at Maine Maritime Academy. Husson hosts Johnson State College on Saturday.
