St. Louis, MO - Lyndon State College women's basketball player Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, VT) has been named the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Player of the Week, as determined by the United States Basketball Writers Association. Hodge, a senior sport management major, had previously been named North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for the week ending January 21st.
Hodge had an incredible week, as she averaged 31.5 points, 19 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and one steal per game. In a 62-52 loss to Maine Maritime Academy last Friday, she posted 23 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and one steal. Then in an 89-83 double-overtime win over Husson University on Saturday, she had a huge game, posting career highs of 40 points and 27 rebounds, 24 of which came from the defensive end. She also posted two assists, one steal and one block while playing all 50 minutes in the six-point win. Hodge has now recorded a double double in all 16 games this season.
Hodge and the Hornets return to the court tonight (Tuesday) when they travel to New England College for a 5:30 pm NAC tip-off.
