NEW LONDON, N.H. – Ashley Fruzzetti scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team past Lyndon 64-40 in North Atlantic Conference action Thursday evening.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 15-9 overall and 14-3 in the NAC while the Hornets fall to 3-19 overall and 3-14 in the NAC.
Fruzzetti finished the game 6-10 from the floor and 3-6 from beyond the arc. Kelsey Bragdon also reached double figures with 10 points. Two-time NAC Player of the Week, Kelsey Cahill had eight points, eight rebounds and four blocks. She moved into ninth in career blocks with 89. Dina Tischofer contributed five points and six rebounds.
Lyndon was led by Drew Neal (Glover, Vt.). She scored 15 points on 6-12 shooting in 22 minutes off the bench. Emily Gray (Quincy, Mass.) had 10 points and a pair of steals, while Amanda Martin (East Thetford, Vt.) pulled down a game best nine rebounds.
Colby-Sawyer's Katie McCarthy hit a three-pointer to open the scoring 1:30 into the game and the Chargers never looked back. The home team would open a 14-0 lead over the first 10 minutes before the Hornets received a jumper from Gray.
Leading 25-9 with less than three minutes to play in the frame, Colby-Sawyer received a pair of Fruzzetti trey's and a jumper by Cahill to take its largest lead of the half, 33-11, into the locker room.
The Chargers were able to hold a comfortable lead throughout the remainder of the game as 14 players saw action. The largest advantage of the contest came at the 7:53 mark on a layup from Kristin Ellis. Colby-Sawyer came away with its ninth straight victory, 64-40.
The Chargers out rebounded Lyndon 54-43, while holding the Hornets to 25 percent shooting.
