LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Nichols College went on a 15-0 spurt to start the second half en route to a 64-39 victory over Lyndon Tuesday in a non-conference women's basketball matchup at Stannard Gymnasium.
The Bison (6-2) trailed 29-28 at halftime but went on the offensive early in the second half to take control of the game. The Hornets, behind Emily Gray (Quincy, Mass.) 12 first-half points managed to take a lead into intermission, but couldn't maintain their consistent point production into the final 20 minutes of play.
Alexis Wegrzynek led a balanced attack with 14 points, five rebounds and four steals while Kasey Pelletier chipped in 10 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, three steals and one blocked shot. Devon Spirka had nine points for the Bison and the tandem of Amber Litwinko and Julia Zawacki had eight each.
Gray finished the contest with 12 points and two rebounds; and the duo of Chelsea Bagley (Wallingford, Vt.) and Brooke Parciak (Jewet City, Conn.) collected eight points each in the loss. Britt Geoffrey (Derby Line, Vt.) and Emily Strese (Gilmanton, N.H.) had eight rebounds for Lyndon (0-5): and Chelsea Watson (Eliot, Maine) dished out four assists.
