POULTNEY, Vt. – Lyndon scored 24 runs and pounded out five extra-base hits en route to a sweep of Green Mountain College in North Atlantic Conference softball action. The Hornets took game one 10-0 and the nightcap 14-4, both in five innings.
Nine Lyndon players recorded hits with Natalia Shams (Swampscott, Mass.) leading the charge, finishing the afternoon 5-of-7 from the plate with two doubles, four runs-batted-in, four stolen bases and five runs scored. Katelyn Willey (Lancaster, N.H.) went 4-for-7 with three RBIs while Tia Ballado (Bellows Falls, Vt.) plated six runs on three hits.
Mary Gagne (Highgate, Vt.) finished the day with four hits and five RBIs and recorded 12 put-outs to lead all players. Meghan Gadapee (Littleton, N.H.) hurled all 10 innings for the Hornets, allowing four runs on 13 hits with five strikeouts.
Kristen Belessis tallied three hits to lead the Eagles while Chanleigh Casey and Karen Davidson each added a pair of hits and one RBI. Cass Neimeth-Lazar gave up a combined 24 runs on 24 hits in 10 innings of work, walked eight and recorded two strikeouts. The Eagles struggled to support her in the field, committing 11 errors over the two games while leaving 13 runners stranded on base.
