Johnson, VT – The Lyndon State College men's cross country team outran the Johnson State College Badgers by a score of 20-35 in a dual meet on Thursday. Leading the way for the Hornets and taking first place overall over the 4K course was All-North Atlantic conference junior Benjamin Cornell (Burrilville, RI) who covered the course in 14:06. Cornell was followed by sophomore Brian Corrigan (Andover, MA) in second place and junior Matt Francis (Freeport, ME) in third place with times of 14:58 and 14:59 respectively. Fourth place was nabbed by senior Darren Williams (Wiesbaden, Germany) who cruised the course in 15:46, while fellow senior CJ Jimmy (Modesto, CA) notched a tenth place finish in 19:45. The top finisher for Johnson was senior Jacob Greenia (Sheldon, VT) in a time of 15:54.
"This was more of a speed workout for the men while putting in some friendly competition with our cross state rivals," said Hornet Coach Chris Ummer. "This was flat, fast and fun. Darren Williams ran particularly well and continues to improve each and every week."
The men close out their season on November 11th at the NCAA New England Regionals held in Gorham, ME and hosted by the University of Southern Maine. Race start time is scheduled for 11:00 am.
