COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Lyndon men's cross country competed at the 2016 Vermont State Intercollegiate Championship Meet held at Saint Michael's College. Senior Ayan Cole(Lyndonville, Vt.) led the way for the Hornets with a strong performance on his way to a 17th place finish overall (76 total runners) with a time of 27:30 over the 8-kilometer course. Cole was followed by sophomore Ben Cornell (Burrilville, R.I.). Cornell placed 31st in a time of 29:05 while fellow sophomore Matt Francis (Freeport, Maine) and freshman Brian Corrigan(Andover, Mass.) placed 51st and 55th respectively.
"The men looked the best they've looked this season," said head coach Chris Ummer. "Ayan ran as expected and Ben ran well considering he's been on an academic canoe trip for 10 days. Brian Corrigan continues to make steady progress as he once again set a PR for the second consecutive race. If we can get all team members healthy and run at full strength I believe we're capable of a great deal more than we've shown thus far."
The Hornets' next race is on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Western New England University Invitational in Springfield, Mass.
