BIDDEFORD, Maine – The men's cross country team opened the 2016 season at the University of New England Invitational.
Senior Ayan Cole (Lyndonville, Vt.) began his season by pacing the men's team in 29:42 (28th overall/154) over the hilly 8K course. Cole was followed by sophomore Ben Cornell (Burrilville, R.I.) in a time of 29:59 (32nd/154). Sophomore Matt Francis (Freeport, Maine) covered the course in a time of 33:45. Freshman Brian Corrigan (Andover, Mass.) completed his first collegiate race in 35:31.
"Much like the women's team, this race today is a measuring stick of the men's fitness and what work needs to be done. Overall, based on where we're at in the season and our training, I feel comfortable with the men's results," said Coach Ummer.
Both the men's and women's team will be in action on September 17th when they compete at the Bowdoin College Invitational in Brunswick, Maine.
