The Men's Cross Country Team Places 33rd at NCAA Regionals

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Hornet XC team, led by junior Ayan Cole (Lyndonville, VT) in a personal best time of 27:21, 142nd overall, closed out their season by finishing 33rd (58 teams) at the NCAA Regional/New England Championships. Cole was followed by senior Tim LaRoche (South Hadley, MA) in 27:33 with fellow senior Josh Hopmans (Hinsdale, MA) completing the 8K course in a time of 27:49. Rounding out the scoring for the Hornets was freshman Ben Cornell (Burrilville, RI) and senior Dylan Robichaud (Orange, MA) in time of 28:30 and 28:36 respectively. Robichaud's time was also personal best. Freshman Sam Darbey (Tyringham, MA) covered the course in 29:00, while fellow freshman Matt Francis (Freeport, ME) cruised in at 31:40 for another Hornet PR.

"Obviously this was not the result we were looking for," said Coach Ummer. "The start is so crucial in a race this size (380 competitors) with some early tight turns and narrow course sections. We simply did not get out liked we had hoped to. The upside though is Ayan, Dylan, and Matt all were able to run personal best times for the 8K."
