Hornets place fourth at Vermont State Championships

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Lyndon men's cross country ran to a fourth place team finish at the 2015 Vermont State Intercollegiate Championship Meet held at Johnson State College. Senior Tim LaRoche (South Hadley, MA) led the way for the Hornets with a strong performance on his way to a ninth place finish overall with a time of 27:25 over the hilly 8-kilometer course. LaRoche was followed by junior Ayan Cole (Lyndonville, Vt.) in eleventh place in a time of 27:37 and senior Josh Hopmans (Hinsdale, NH) in thirteen place in a time of 27:44. Freshman Ben Cornell (Burilville, RI) was 30th on the day in 28:53. The Hornet's next race is on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the New England Open Championships held in Franklin Park, Mass.

"I'm quite pleased with the men's effort today," said Head Coach Chris Ummer. "Tim and Josh ran as expected and Ayan and Ben really stepped it up today. They gave us a glimpse of what we're capable of. On a course that was as challenging as this one, all team members performed very well."
