FRANKLIN PARK, Mass. – The Lyndon men's cross country team recorded a number of top individual results Saturday at the Open New England Meet in spite of the wet and muddy conditions. The field of 39 teams consisted of mostly Division I and II programs as well as nationally-ranked Division III teams.
"This is the best we've run so far this year." Said Head Coach Chris Ummer. "We're just starting to hit our form. Each one of these guys has room for improvement that I'm sure they'll obtain by season's end. I couldn't be happy with today's efforts and results."
Leading the way for the Hornets was senior Tyler Scheibenpflug (Wolcott, Conn.) who ran to a 32nd-place finish overall in a field of 279 runners. He completed the race in a time of 25:11. Scheibenpflug was followed by senior Kenedi Hall (Hartland, Vt.) with a time of 26:08.
Rounding out the top five Hornet finishers were junior Tim LaRoche (South Hadley, Mass.) in 26:41, junior Josh Hopmans (Hinsdale, Mass.) in 27:38, and sophomore Devin Low (Centerville, Mass.) in 29:03. All five ran to personal best eight-kilometer time.
Lyndon finished 29th overall of the 39 teams. The Hornets return to action at the Western New England University Invitation on Saturday, Oct. 18.
