Cornell notches two top six finishes to lead Hornets at Mount Holyoke Spring Fling

South Hadley, MA - Benjamin Cornell (Burrillville, RI) finished 3rd in the 800 meter run and 6th in the 1500 meter run to highlight the Lyndon State College tmen's track and field team's performance at the Mount Holyoke College Spring Fling Invitational on Saturday.  As a team, the Hornets finished 9th in the 11 team field.

Cornell's 800 time was 2:07.43 and his 1500 time was 4:32.29.  Matt Francis (Freeport, ME) also ran the 800 and 1500 in times of 2:35.27 and 5:20.37, finishing in 21st and 12th place respectively.

Josh Thibault (Glover, VT) finished 14th in the Triple Jump with a mark of 10.68 meters.  He also competed in Javelin, finishing 9th with a mark of 35.02 meters, and ran the 200 in a time of 25.77, finishing 32nd.

Robert Denton III (Providence, RI) competed in the Javelin, Discus, Shot Put.  He finished in 13th in Javelin with a distance of 32.07 meters.  After fouling out in Discus in discus, he came back to finish 15th in the Shot Put with a mark of 8.35 meters.

Hornet coach Hayden Bennell remarked "The Men's team is still building and we are going to focus on making improvements and adjustments, so we can compete our best in the NAC Championships in two weeks."

Next Saturday the Hornets will compete at the Trinity College Invitational.  That meet will begin at 10:00 am.
