Stowe, VT - The Lyndon State College men's tennis team hosted Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at the Topnotch Resort on Tuesday, and came up on the short end of a 9-0 result. Lyndon falls to 0-7 on the season while MCLA improves to 2-3.
The Trailblazers swept the three doubles contests, as the Hornets failed to capture more than two games in any of the flights.
MCLA also took all six singles matches. The most competitive match of the day came in second singles, where Lyndon's Neal Mulligan (Marshfield, VT) and MCLA's Jared Freeman (Rotterdam, NY) split the first two sets before Freeman came away with an 11-9 victory in the third set tiebreaker. In sixth singles, the Hornets' Jeremy Polonia (Lynn, MA) lost in two sets to MCLA's Nick Castle, 6-2, 7-6.
Lyndon returns to action on Saturday when they host Colby-Sawyer College in a 1:00 pm North Atlantic Conference matchup at the Dudley Bell Tennis Center. MCLA hosts Castleton University on Saturday.
