Stowe, VT - The Lyndon State College men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Johnson State College on Tuesday evening. The non-conference match was played at the Topnotch Resort. Lyndon falls to 0-3 on the season, while Johnson improves to 1-3.
Jake LaCerda (Gray, ME) and Neal Mulligan (Marshfield, VT) both had strong days for the Hornets. The pair combined to pick up an 8-4 win over Johnson's Gerrit Lane (Moretown, VT) and Joseph Holloway (London, England) at first doubles. LaCerda then picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lane at first singles, while Mulligan topped Austin Walters (Grantham, NH) 6-2, 6-2 at second singles.
Johnson captured victories in the two remaining doubles flights and the other four singles flights to come away with the match win. The two teams will square off again in a North Atlantic Conference match at Lyndon on April 18th.
The Hornets will return to action on Thursday with a 3:30 pm non-conference match at Norwich University. Johnson is scheduled to open NAC play at Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday.
