Cadets Down Hornets

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Lyndon State College men's tennis team visited Norwich University Thursday afternoon, falling 9-0 in non-conference action at the Shapiro Field House.

Lyndon (0-2) went opened up the match down 2-0 due to forfeits at third flight doubles and sixth flight singles.  Norwich (1-2) then picked up 8-0 victories in first and second flight doubles for a 4-0 lead going into singles.

Sam Beiter topped Neal Mulligan (Marshfield, Vt.) at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1 to seal the deal for the Cadets with the 5-0 lead.

No. 1 and No. 2 singles were tight matches as Ian Hyte won 7-5, 6-2 over Tyler Hall (Keene, N.H.) and Dylan Ackerman topped Michael Sigsbury (Pownal, Vt.) by the same score.

Jay Carter was victorious over Jake LaCerda (Gray, Maine) 6-2, 6-1 in No. 3 singles while Tyler Eagan finished out the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Dylan Cherko (Manchester, Conn.).

The Hornets host Green Mountain College Saturday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m. for a non-conference match.
