Hornet men come from behind for 13-7 win at Albertus Magnus

New Haven, CT - The Lyndon State College men's lacrosse team spotted Albertus Magnus College an early three-goal lead, then stormed back to post a 13-7 victory on Monday afternoon.  The Hornets improve to 3-6 on the season, while the Falcons fall to 2-7.

Albertus Magnus jumped on Lyndon early on.  Tyler Sicoli (Shoreham, NY) opened the scoring just 1:37 in when he found the net off of a feed from James May (Branford, CT).  May then tallied twice more himself, both with assists from Brennan Moore (Meridan, CT), and the Falcons found themselves in front, 3-0, just under six minutes into the game.  Shea Jones (Hull, MA) got Lyndon on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at the 6:04 mark, but May's third goal of the quarter gave the Falcons a 4-1 lead after one quarter.

The Hornets quickly turned the game around in the second quarter.  Zachary Carey (Exeter, NH) started things when Jones found him for a goal 1:29 into the quarter.  Spencer Aubin (Sharon, MA) then found Jones to bring the Hornets within one, and another Jones to Carey goal tied things at the 10:13 mark.  Less than two minutes later Joseph Ricco (Hudson, NH) picked up a ground ball and went to the goal for a score, giving Lyndon its first lead of the contest.  Aubin scored after the following faceoff for the fifth straight Hornet goal, making it 6-4.

May stopped the bleeding momentarily, finding the back of the net at the 6:09 mark to cut the Hornet lead back to one.  Lyndon continued to control play, however, and goals from Connor Brennan (Southington, CT), Aubin, and Logan Parenti (Salem, NH) gave the Hornets a 9-5 advantage at the half.

Lyndon continued to get much the best of play in the third quarter.  Aubin's third goal of the game came at the 11:18 mark, with Carey tacking on another less than two minutes later.  Aubin found Jones for a man-up goal with just under two minutes to go in the quarter, then the same pair connected again less than a minute later for Jones's fourth goal of the game to make the score 13-5, Lyndon after three.

Neither team was able to find the net through much of the fourth quarter.  May and Moore scored one late goal each in the final two minutes to account for the final score.

Marcus Bessette (Pembroke, NH) picked up the win in goal for the Hornets.  He stopped 15 of 22 Falcon shots on goal.  John Brunetti (West Haven, CT) took the loss for Albertus Magnus.  Brunetti made 21 saves over the first three quarters, before giving way to Jack Kerner (Merrick, NY).

The Hornets will travel to Castleton University for a 7:00 pm North Atlantic Conference contest on Thursday.  Albertus Magnus travels to Johnson & Wales College on Wednesday.
