The Lyndon State College men's lacrosse team has progressed to new heights again this season as they set a new program record of ten wins, recorded their highest finish in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) at third (5-2), and for the second straight season, hosted and won a NAC quarterfinal playoff game.
The program has even reached national rankings as they finished their season fourth overall in Division III for man-down defense (0.865) and 20th in caused turnovers per game (11.53). The team ranked in the top two in the conference in four categories: man-down defense (1st), caused turnovers per game (2nd), clearing percentage (2nd), and ground balls (2nd). Four Hornets were named to the NAC All-Conference Team. Ian Pelkey (Milton, Vt.) and Brandon Hunter (Glastonbury, Conn.) were named to the First Team while Shea Jones (Hull, Mass.) and Spencer Aubin (Sharon, Mass.) were named to the Second Team, a second nod for Jones and Aubin who received the award last season.
Third year head coach Kevin Pezanowski, who was named NAC Coach of the Year in his first two years, commented that he is proud of the progress of this team and of each individual player. He feels confident this program will continue to move forward in a positive direction.
