PAXTON, Mass.—The Lyndon State College men's lacrosse team lost to Anna Maria College 10-9 in a fourth quarter comeback Tuesday evening. AMC scored back-to-back goals to take the victory over the Hornets.
The loss drops the Hornets to 0-2 while Anna Maria improves to 1-3.
Alex Rezendes (Nantucket, Mass.) led Anna Maria with four goals, including both the game-tying and game-winning goals. The AMCATS also saw two goals each from freshmen Zachary Bryant (Saco, Maine) and Ryan Rockwal (Chicopee, Mass.), while sophomores Tyler Hagan (Charlton, Mass.) and Andrew Marcotte (Plainville, Mass.) both added single goals of their own.
Lyndon State scored the first goal of the game just 44 seconds into the contest and maintained the lead until the 7:20 mark of the fourth quarter. The game would be back and forth action until Anna Maria notched their tenth goal with 3:51 remaining in the forth. The AMCATS would hold onto the one goal lead for the remainder of the game.
The Hornets saw strong play on both sides of the ball. Ian Pelkey (Milton, Vt.) would lead the offense with one goal and three assists for a total of four points. Brandon Hunter (Glastonbury, Conn.) played strong defense with 3 caused turnovers.
Shane Morin (Salem, N.H.) tallied 10 saves on the day. Anna Maria goaltender Paul Schwarz (Staten Island, N.Y.) registered 16 saves on the day and picking up the win.
The Hornets will travel back to Worcester, Mass. to face Houghton College at a neutral site on Monday, March 21.
