Lyndonville, VT - Luke Fredsell, a three-time All-Conference selection and the all-time leading scorer at Westmoreland (NY) High School, has committed to Northern Vermont University-Lyndon's men's basketball program for the Fall 2018 semester. Fredsell, a 5'11" combo guard, will major in Sport Management.
Fredsell, the Center State Conference Division III Most Valuable Player, led Westmoreland to a 17-5 overall record and a share of the Division title this season. He averaged 22.7 points per game as a senior, 21.3 as a junior, and 16.5 as a sophmore, earning 1st Team All-Conference honors each season. He finished his career with 1,228 total points, making him his school's all-time leading scorer, and also recorded 450 career assists and 159 career made three-point goals.
Lyndon head coach David Pasiak had these comments about Fredsell: "Luke is a dynamic offensive player that can score and create for others. I am very excited that he has chosen Lyndon to continue his education and playing career. He will be a great addition to our program."
Fredsell's coach at Westmoreland, Nick Facciolo, remarked "Luke is without a doubt, one of the hardest working players that I have ever coached. Luke's drive and determination have helped him separate himself at the high school level and I have no reason to believe he won't do the same at the college level. His dynamic style of play makes him a threat on both ends of the court."
Fredsell joins another Central New York product, Zach Falkenburg of Chittenango High School, in the Hornets' Fall 2018 recruiting class. The Hornets expect to announce additional commitments in the near future.
