Hornet men fall at Plymouth State
Plymouth, NH – Sophomore Jaylen Leroy (Manchester, NH) poured in 34 points and junior Liam Densmore (Portland, ME) drained four three-pointers to lead Plymouth State University to a 91-73 win over Lyndon State College in non-conference men's basketball action at Foley Gymnasium on Wednesday night.  PSU improves to 6-5 on the season, while Lyndon falls to 1-8.

The Panthers jumped out to a quick lead. PSU scored the game's first seven points, and led 10-2 after just 2:37. Leroy connected twice from beyond the arc to account for eight of the first ten Panther points. A baseline layup by junior Mike Osgood (Nashua, NH) and three Densmore triples in a span of three-and-a-half minutes boosted the Plymouth lead to 25-6.

A steal by senior Collin Sullivan (Plymouth, NH) led to a layup by freshman Ruay Bol (South Portland, ME) to give the Panthers their largest lead, 28-6, after the first ten minutes.

The Hornets used a 13-4 stretch over the next four minutes to cut the deficit to 32-19. Senior Robbie Rouelle (St. Johnsbury, VT) kicked off the run with a three-pointer and freshman Korey Steele (Jupiter, FL) and senior Kendrick Mills (Rutland, VT) each added five points in the spurt. The teams played even over the final five minutes with PSU holding a 44-32 advantage at the intermission.

PSU opened the second half with a 9-1 run, with Leroy accounting for seven of the points, to push the lead back to 20, 53-33. Densmore drove into the lane and finished with his right hand to make it 63-41 with 14:18 remaining.

Senior Darren Williams Jr. (Wiesbaden, Germany) sank a three to cap a 9-2 stretch for the Hornets, making it a 65-50 margin, but sophomore Janvier Johnson (Glastonbury, CT) answered from distance for the Panthers. Mills buried a triple with 8:08 to play to bring Lyndon to within 13, 73-60, but that was as close as the Hornets would get as Plymouth State coasted to the win.

Leroy topped 30-points for the second straight game, finishing with 34 points. He added five rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks to his effort. Densmore finished with 21 points while connecting on four-of-five from distance in 14 minutes off the bench, while Osgood posted 19 points, four rebounds and four assists. Senior Kieran Beck (Danvers, MA) led all players with 12 rebounds.

Mills led a trio of Hornets in double-figures, posting a team-high 18 points, including four triples, to go with his four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Williams Jr. and junior CJ Jimmy (Modesto, CA) each finished with 10 points in the loss.

The Hornets return to Noth Atlantic Conference play on Saturday afternoon when they host Castleton University at 3:00 pm.  The Panthers travel to Western Connecticut State University on Saturday.
