Quinvy, MA - The Lyndon State College men's basketball team returned to the court today, ending a two-week layoff for final exams and Christmas. Unfortunately for the Hornets, they came out on the short end of an 87-55 non-conference decision at Eastern Nazarene College. The Lions improved to 4-6 with the win, while the Hornets fall to 1-7.
Eastern Nazarene opened the contesgt with a three point goal from Jacob Waldroop (Newland, NC), followed by three free throws from Josh Rice (Hanson, MA), and never relinquishes the lead. The Hornets were withon 24-21 following a Gerald Fleming (Tampa, FL) three-pointer with 6:03 remaining in the opening half when the hosts went on a 16-0 run to take control of the contest. Lyndon would never get back within single digits the rest of the way.
Rice topped four double figure scorers for the Lions, tossing in 22 points. David Lopez (Miami, FL) recorded a double double for the hosts with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Darren Williams Jr. (Wiesbaden, Germany) was the only Hornet in double figures with 15 points.
Next up for Lyndon is another non-league contest on Wednesday evening. The Hornets will tip at Plymouth State University at 7:30 pm. Eastern Nazarene will host Endicott College next Thursday.
